When to use this component

Do's

  • Identity must be verified in person or remotely as part of a government service
  • A biometric check is an approved, lawful step for the service being delivered
  • You can obtain and record informed consent before capture begins
  • A non-biometric alternative route is available for users who cannot or will not use it

Don'ts

  • A password, OTP, or document check would satisfy the assurance level required
  • You cannot state clearly what is captured, why, where it is stored, and for how long
  • No fallback exists, biometric capture fails for real users and must never be the only path
  • The capture would happen without an explicit, revocable consent step
